WAP (Wireless Application Protocol)
Most of today's mobile phones come with a built in WAP browser, which allows you to access dedicated WAP pages while on the move. WAP gives you text-based information from the web in a format that is quick to download and easy for a mobile screen to display. However, this system will only allow you to browse dedicated WAP content, and not standard Internet web pages.
The advantage of WAP is that real-time information from the Internet, like news or football scores, can be read on the move from mobile devices rather than a desktop computer.
WAP is available in two ways: GSM and GPRS.
GSM
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile communications. If you use GSM to access WAP services, you will connect to the Mobile Internet via a dial-up connection. You will be charged for the length of time you are online.

GPRS
General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is an 'always on', high-speed data service. This will give you faster WAP browsing, for which you will be charged by the amount of data you download, irrespective of how long you are online.
