UK Mobile Network Coverage

UK Network Coverage

The amount of mobile phone coverage you receive depends on a number of things, such as your network provider, the frequency of the signal, and where you are.

Whilst it would be handy to be able to tell you which UK network will provide you with the best coverage, unfortunately, it's not quite as easy as that. It really depends on where you are - each network will be able to provide the best (and worst) coverage somewhere in the UK.

When network providers provide information on their coverage area, they do so on the basis that you will be standing outside to use your phone. Obviously, most people will also want to use their mobile in their home or office, and this may make a huge difference to the signal they receive. This may depend on the frequency of the signal; some buildings will let 900 MHz in better than 1800 MHz, and vice versa.

As mobile phones become more and more popular, each network provides more base stations, and so coverage is constantly improving. If, like many people, you live in or near a densely populated area, then any network will probably provide you with enough coverage. If you live in a more rural area, or travel regularly across the country, then you may need to look more closely at the coverage maps for each network.
