Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
A network that links two or more devices without using wire, providing high speed and short range wireless data connections. It operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands using spread spectrum technology, which is based on radio waves that enable communication between various devices in a limited area. WLAN is faster than 3G technologies but its range is shorter. It can be used to provide wireless data connection between devices such as mobile phones, laptops, PDA and Wi-Fi access points.
