Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA)
1. A digital wireless telephony transmission technique that allows several handsets in the same area to use the same frequency. Each conversation is allocated a different time slot on a given frequency, in order to increase the amount of data that can be carried. Both GSM and DECT use TDMA to ensure efficient use of allotted frequencies.
2. A name used for D-AMPS, the 2G mobile phone networks operated in the US, Latin America, New Zealand, parts of Russia and Asia Pacific.
