TFT LCD

Acronym for: Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display.

A modification of LCD that uses thin-film transistor (TFT) technology to provide better image quality. TFT technology is active matrix technology, which means that a transistor is placed next to each pixel allowing it to be turned on and turned off individually. This makes it easier to have greater contrast and a faster response time. However, compared to other variants of LCD technology, it is expensive and uses more power.
