Standby Time
The length of time the user can leave their fully charged phone turned on (without receiving or making any calls) before the phone battery becomes completely flat. It is usually stated in hours. When it is switched on, power is used continuously by the phone to keep it in contact with the local cell site, so that the network knows where the phone is, should it receive a call. Talking on a mobile will drain the battery faster; which is why a separate talktime figure is normally given.
