Roaming
A facility offered by the UK networks that allows you to use a mobile phone abroad, on roaming partner networks. Roaming is supported by a cellular network of radio base stations.
The countries the user can roam in and the cost will depend on the UK network they use, and the type of handset they have. To allow international roaming, there has to be an according agreement between the network operators in question. A tri-band phone is required to use the roaming facility in the Americas, whilst a quad-band phone is required for countries such as Panama and Ecuador.
