Pulse Code Modulation (PCM)
A digital representation of an analogue signal where the magnitude of the modulating signal is sampled regularly at uniform intervals, then quantized and converted by coding to a digital signal. PCM has been used in digital telephone systems and provides undistorted transmission, even in the presence of noise.
