Operating System (OS)
The software that manages a device's (e.g. a phone, PDA or PC) hardware capability and shares it between application programs. It is important to make sure that any software is compatible with the device's OS. Popular operating systems include Microsoft Windows is Palm OS and MacOS. Symbian provides an operating system (Symbian OS) for data-enabled mobile phones.
