An industry standard object-oriented language and virtual machine, invented by Sun Microsystems and formally released in 1996. With Java technology, phones can be enhanced by downloading applications such as games, tools, and information programs and services, which can then run on mobile phones, PDAs and computers. They can be removed easily when they are no longer needed.
