i-mode
A proprietary packet-based wireless information service for mobile phones, most popular in Japan, but expanding its services worldwide (including O2 in the UK).
i-mode uses a light version of HTML to produce content, and anyone with an i-mode compatible phone can access various services such as mobile banking, exchange of email, weather forecast, financial and stock exchange services and ticket booking. i-mode communications are "always-on".
