FDMA

Acronym for: Frequency Division Multiple Access.

A system that transmits one voice circuit per channel, with each conversation having its own, unique, radio channel. The channels are relatively narrow, (typically 30 KHz or less) and are defined as either receive or transmit channels. A full conversation requires both a receive and transmit channel pair, so a system with 200 channels could handle 100 simultaneously full duplex conversations.
