Constructive Interference
A term that is used to describe the interference that takes place when waves that occupy the same space combine to form a single stronger wave. The strength of the resulting wave depends on the how close in phase the two component waves are. For example if 2 waves of the same phase were transmitted, each with an amplitude of 5, they would combine into a composite wave of amplitude 10. However, 2 waves slightly out of phase would combine into a composite wave of amplitude less than 10.
