Battery
The power source for a mobile phone. Available in:
- Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) - older technology, the battery has a memory effect and needs to be run down every other charge to retain its capacity.
- Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) - less prone to the memory effect than NiCd, needing to be discharged every week or two. However, they have a limited number of charge cycles (around 200) before they start to lose their charge.
- Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) - giving exceptional capacity for its size and weight, and does not suffer from the memory effect, which means that you can top up whenever is convenient. Never completely discharge a Li-Ion battery.
