Base Station
A site containing a radio transmitter / receiver and network communication equipment. In order to provide network coverage, there are thousands of cells - individual geographic areas - across the UK.
The base station lies at the heart of each cell. They emit radio waves or electromagnetic fields. These waves carry speech, data and pictures to a mobile phone and detect the signals transmitted from mobile phones in the reverse directions.
