Analogue
The traditional method of modulating radio signals so that they can carry information. Early UK mobile phones used analogue technology (1G). This service was terminated in the UK in 2001, but is still used in many parts of the world.
Analogue systems include AMPS, NMT and ETACS. There are less secure than digital networks and suffer more from interference where the signal is weak.
