Games for Your Mobile Phone
In the past, mobile phone games were very basic, with black & white graphics and simple game play. However, with the introduction of Java, colour screens and larger phone memory, the world of mobile games has moved on considerably. Many games now look like they did on the console 5 years ago, with popular titles such as Crash Bandicoot, Baldur's Gate and Tomb Raider available. Arcade classics such as Pac-Man or Breakout also fit on the mobile platform with very little change, and their emphasis on simple, addictive game play has made them very popular.
Mobile games game be downloaded using a WAP connection, at a cost of between £1.50 and £8. Once they are downloaded, games are stored in either the Games section or the Applications section, depending on your phone. They will remain there for as long as you want to keep them.
Some retailers, such as 3, will allow you to rent games either singly (charging 25p per play, or 50p for 3 days), or as part of an add-on package.
