Using Your Mobile Phone Abroad
If you want to use your mobile phone whilst you are abroad, there are a few things you need to bear in mind.
Firstly, you must arrange with your UK network provider to enable your International Roaming service. This will allow you to connect to your network's roaming partners in the countries you are visiting.
You also need to make sure that your handset will work wherever you are travelling to. Whilst Europe, Australasia, Africa and Asia work on the same GSM frequencies as the UK (900 / 1800 MHz), the Americas do not, and so you will need to take a Tri-band, or even Quad-band phone if you plan to travel there.
